A Home in Community

A Home in Community (AHIC) is a non-profit organization formed in February 2007. Our mission is to help low-income adults with disabilities live in cohousing communities where they can easily connect with neighbors and participate in activities. Our first campaign, “A Home at CoHo,” has resulted in the purchase of an ADA-accessible unit in CoHo Ecovillage that is rented at a subsidized rate to an income-qualified individual with disabilities.

As of June 2014, AHIC has raised over 90% of the total purchase price of this unit – we are very close to our goal of ensuring that this wonderful resource will always remain available.

Our first tenant is Mike Volpe, who moved into the CoHo community in October 2007.
