Anne
I was born in Ann Arbor Michigan, the day John F Kennedy was elected president. (In fact, my birth prevented my mother from voting in a presidential election until she was 26 years old!) The first of seven children, I grew up on the east coast, mostly in Arlington, Virginia. Right after high school I headed back to Ann Arbor to attend the University of Michigan, where I studied biology, geology and classics. From there I traveled to the West African country of Togo as a Peace Corps Volunteer. In Togo I lived two and a half years in a small village working on small-scale fish farming projects. I had some wonderful experiences in Africa, and also in Asia as I traveled the long way home through India and Nepal.

Back in the States, I worked for Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington DC before returning to school for a nursing degree. My plan was to travel around the world working as an RN. My first travel stop was San Francisco, and I ended up staying there seven years. I moved to Corvallis in 1998. I currently work as an RN with Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, some of the time with Marfa, my Registered Therapy dog. My interests include travel, camping, reading, film, gardening, and yoga.

My interest in CoHousing was sparked by a visit to several Cohousing communities in Davis and Sacramento, California in the mid nineties. Sharing resources just makes so much sense! I am a person who values intensely my privacy and solitude, and cohousing provides a balance between personal and community life.

One more thing: Despite growing up in a large family, only one of my sibs had a child, and he lives far away. I really enjoy children, so I’m really enjoying my role as honorary aunt to the children of CoHo!
